I met Anne on Instagram, she’s a beautiful soul who posts the most amazing pics of healthy clean foods! She’s become a friend & a major inspiration in my life recently to make changes to my diet & the way I feed my family as well. She shared with me a list of thirty-one things she did (& does) to stay alive & it honestly changed my life. I’m so thankful to have found Anne & am so excited to share her story with you!
Anne lives in Columbia, South Carolina with her husband of 33 years. They have two handsome sons, age 23 & 27. Their strength learned from their mom, one of them writing his senior speech on adversity, as his mother faced her cancer diagnosis & treatment.
Several years ago, Anne noticed an itching in her right breast. She had not been diligent about self-exams because she had many fibrocystic (non-cancerous) lumps & they all felt the same making the exams a seemingly pointless exercise. However, the itching was different & concerning. She saw her doctor that day & had a mammogram & biopsy. Anne was diagnosed with Her2+ breast cancer at age 51 & was shocked to learn her tumor was nine centimeters.
Anne had bilateral mastectomy & did not follow with chemo or radiation, as her doctors were confident the cancer was successfully removed. However, cells escaped & within two years she was Stage four with metastasis to the liver. She began chemo; six months of Abraxane followed by Herceptin which was to continue for the reminder of her life but she opted to stop two & a half years ago. Anne has had no evidence of disease for eight years now.
The Bible & God’s promise of Heaven, provide Anne with strength & grace. Anne admits she still faces uncertainties like everyone, but she puts her trust in God with those uncertainties. This eases her fears & empowers her, equipping her to face her giants. Anne says she’s continually held up by the love of God & those He’s sent to participate in her life.
Anne began to research how to prevent, cure & fight cancer through an integrative approach. She made radical changes her diet. She switched to a mostly raw plant-based diet, detoxes & eliminated sugar, dairy & meat. With these changes through treatment, she experienced no side effects other than hair loss. No fatigue, no nausea & no neuropathy. She worked full time & went straight from chemo to work. She fueled her cells, drinking barley grass powder & Moringa, she says it made her feel as energetic as when she was a teenager.
Anne now feels a calling to help others prevent disease by sharing all that she’s learned. She speaks frequently in her town & teaches others how to sprout & make their own kefir & almond milk. She encourages those with a cancer diagnosis to research, consider various options & get a few different opinions. Anne says there are countless Stage 4 survivors out there & those with the best outcomes seem to be those who’ve adopted a radical lifestyle change. She’s still a supporter of conventional treatment, but an integrative approach was wise & effective for her.
