Thankful for my Medical Team

It’s so important to feel confident in those responsible for your medical care.  My husband actually began his treatment at a hospital other than mine, in the city.  However, when I was diagnosed later & he saw my treatment process through my Cancer Center, he realized how unhappy he really was with his care.  He often felt unheard with his previous medial team & had to push for the tests & treatments that he wanted to pursue.  He’s since made the transition & is receiving the same high standard of care that I do.

When I was going through chemo in June, I received an unexpected call from my hospital.  They said they were working on a short video titled Fighting Cancer in our Communities to be presented at their annual fundraiser in October.  They had sent a request out to the physicians at my cancer center asking for patients they thought may be willing to share their positive experience.  Not one, not two, but three of my doctor’s had recommended my family for the video & we were honored to take part.  I have been so blessed with such an amazing, caring team of physicians who have quite literally saved my life & to top it off, they’re now saving my husband’s life as well.

We were excited to be guests at the Gala where they raised $950,000 for our Cancer Center, amazing!

Later we were contacted again & asked to interview for a post on the hospital’s blog.  They sent a photographer to take a few family photos & wrote a great post about our family & my blog.  I feel very honored to have my hospital & cancer center back up what I’m doing here!!

  1. Church Lady, here again. Your dad had told me about this. I am happy I got to view it. What an amazing family you have. I have children of my own, but I can’t imagine going through this with not one parent with cancer but both parents. You guys are an inspiration to so many people.
I continue to keep all of you in my prayers.
    God’s Peace, Mariann
